1. Skip the shampoo

Shampooing is extremely drying and the longer you go in between washes, the better. If you can’t stand not washing your hair every day, utilize a dry shampoo and cute up-dos to help

2. Trim the ends often

Although trimming your hair is counterintuitive, it keeps the ends of your hair healthy which will help your hair grow faster and longer. Saying goodbye to twice-yearly hair cut appointments will help avoid having to cut off several inches of your hair and starting all over again.

3. Avoid hot tools

One of the worst things you can do for your hair is use excessive heat on your hair, causing it try become dry and limp. Reducing the amount of heat you use on your hair will keep it looking and feeling healthy, and in turn allowing it to grow longer and stronger.

4. Use a heat protectant spray

If you’re going to be using heat on your hair, always be sure to use a heat protectant spray. This will give your hair an added level of protection against excessive heat and will reduce damage to your hair.

5. Dry smarter

Rubbing your hair with a dry, fiberous towel will cause frizz and excessive damage. Instead, opt for wrapping your hair in a microfiber towel or old t-shirt to absorb the moisture in your hair post-shower. This will keep your hair smooth and reduce damage, not to mention, help you master air dring your hair!

6. Skip buns, braids, and ponytails

Even though they are convenient, hair ties are extremely damaging as they pull on your hair, causing damage. Avoiding buns, braids and ponytails is a best practice but with that being said, some hair ties are less damaging than others. If you absolutely need to put your hair up, utilize seamless hair ties and scrunchies and avoid using rubber bands at all costs.
