Acrylic Nails vs Gel Nails – What’s the Difference?

Women have numerous choices when it comes to getting their nails done. If they do not feel as though their natural nails are not up to the standards they would like them to be, there are two choices for achieving the perfect manicure: gel nails and acrylic nails. Before making the decision on which one to get, it’s important to understand the difference between the two.

Acrylic Nails

Acrylic nails are one of the most popular choices for artificial nails. They are a combination of a liquid and a powder that create a hard, durable surface over the natural nail. When applying this mixture to the nail, a tip is first applied to the nail with nail glue and then the liquid and powder combination is place on the nail bed and patted into place up the entire nail before air drying.

Gel Nails

Gel nails are natural way to strengthening in the nail and do not include placing a tip onto the nail. Applied the same way regular polish is, there is a base coat, color polish, and top coat. Each coat that is applied is cured under a UV light for two to three minutes.

Both lengthen and strengthen your nails and are typically between $25 and $60 depending on where you go and what services you are looking for.
